The Test Systems function provides test capabilities and solutions throughout the product life cycle; from early prototype development testing, through to factory production testing and in-service product support; field test sets deployed into rugged and harsh environments.
There are currently opportunities on the graduate scheme, for undergraduate placements, and on the Summer Placement scheme.During any of these roles you will be able to gain a wealth of experience in a fast paced and dynamic environment where multi-disciplined teams work together to deliver quality test solutions.
What will you be doing?
As key members of the Test Systems department, graduates or undergraduates will develop an extensive knowledge and gain hands on experience in one or a combination of the disciplines below:
- Analogue and Digital circuit design and circuit test techniques;
- Circuit debugging;
- System architecture for Test Systems;
- Embedded circuit design (Analogue, Digital, FPGA etc.);
- Automated instrumentation and control technologies;
- The manufacturing process;
There will also be further opportunities to further develop additional skills, such as:
- Software development using a Structured Programming Language;
- Management and leadership development opportunities;
- Systems Engineering of Test Solutions.
Test Systems provides an environment where successful applicants have the opportunity to develop their understanding and practical application on both Test Equipment hardware and software domains. These opportunities can both be specialised within one of the respective domains, or increasingly, be an integration of the two disciplines; for those wishing to develop a system level capability, to architect overall test solutions, and associated Integration and Validation proving.Summer Placement students will take part in a group project, run between the Test Systems, Embedded, Mechanical and Software departments. It will be a self-contained project responsible for delivering important demonstrable capabilities back into the company.

Qualifications and experience requirements
Graduates will be qualified to degree level or above (minimum 2:2 honours degree or equivalent) in electronic engineering, general engineering (with electronics) or related subjects. A practical knowledge of software development would be beneficial, but not essential.
Both the Undergraduate and Graduate Schemes within Electronics Engineering are accredited with the IET. Graduates are expected, and supported, to work towards C. Eng registration. I. Eng registration can also be supported where appropriate. Undergraduates are expected to work towards their Eng. Tech registration.
