Being part of our corporate audit team you will need an analytical mind as you work to provide audit and accounting services to a broad range of clients including financial services, technology companies and sports clubs. Your role will involve providing a high quality service to clients in respect of the preparation and audit of statutory accounts. You'll also be able to attend regular internal learning and development courses, as well as social and charity events that take place throughout the year.

Core responsibilities

Demonstrate a basic understanding of the objectives of an audit
Understand and act on basic instructions
Understand and perform basic tests from within our audit software PROaudit
Develop elementary knowledge of double entry
Assist in the call and cast of accounts

Assist in the preparation of lead schedules and audit work which includes, but is not limited to:

  • Completing statutory sections
  • System notes
  • Journal testing
  • Capital and reserves sections
  • Income testing
  • Expenses testing
  • Follow any reasonable instruction by the senior on the job
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and audit bank sections
  • Prepare legible and comprehensive working papers
  • Demonstrate an understanding of working to deadlines
  • Assist in aspects of property audits, which are of limited complexity, providing review points to manager
  • Prepare to be out of office at client sites conducting audits as and when required

Starting: September 2018.

Person requirements

  • Developing ‘on-the-job’ knowledge of the technical procedures and application for own subject area, gained through experience
  • Undertakes straightforward tasks within clearly defined procedures, paying close attention to detail
  • Understands how own duties relate to others in immediate work area
  • Makes judgement by selecting between pre-defined solutions to ensure accuracy and quality of the tasks executed
  • Communicates and exchanges information with colleagues in immediate work area
  • Developing vocational skills which require supervision

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • Currently studying a relevant undergraduate degree at University, on track to achieve a 2:1 (or international equivalent), and seeking a year in industry to complete as part of your undergraduate programme
  • Minimum of 120 UCAS points (300 UCAS points on pre-2017 tariff) or international equivalent, achieved within the same academic year
