Confectioner Placement

Still recruiting throughout COVID‑19

Job description

At Nestlé, we don’t just meet expectations – we don’t just surpass them – we absolutely smash them. And that’s what you’ll do for an entire year on our Confectioner Placement. You’ll be working alongside some of the best confectionery experts in the industry today on our Innovation team. You’ll learn skills and accumulate learning that see you emerge as someone who can really drive results as a key player within the team. And you’ll get to work on technical projects with the guidance of an experienced NPTC member. It’s the kind of specialist mentoring and expertise that you just don’t get anywhere else.

The projects you work on could relate to any area of confectionery here at Nestlé. But whatever form it takes, you can be sure you’ll get to spend valuable time with senior confectioners, product experts, designers and packaging specialists. And you’ll get in-depth insight that will introduce you to things like Pilot Plant, Sensory and Lab and how we use external insight to our advantage. And because the work you’ll do really matters, you might also report back to key stakeholders.

You’ll be working in the development kitchen, where you’ll work with experts and creative innovation specialists in confectionery. And you’ll learn by rolling up your sleeves and getting involved with our global brands – all with expert guidance, of course. But that’s because you’re not just learning what we do – you’re learning how to do it for yourself. How to innovate for yourself and get it right. And when you get it right, you’ll have chance to show your great work to Nestlé stakeholders so your great work can get the recognition it deserves. If you’ve got the ideas – this is your chance to really make them count.

We’re committed to improving people’s lives in everything we do. And that includes our employees. We want you to love your job and to feel rewarded for the contribution you make, so you can expect a competitive salary, plus all sorts of benefits. These include

  • an annual bonus (as long as you meet certain criteria);
  • shift allowance (where applicable)
  • membership of the Nestlé UK or Nestlé Ireland Pension Fund
  • access to our Flexible Reward Scheme - where you can take advantage of the benefits that best suit you.

And, if you work in our York or Gatwick Head Offices, you can even bring your four legged friend to work. Pretty good eh?

What we are looking for

This is a serious opportunity to get a placement at one of the world’s largest food and drink manufacturer and a chance to make an impression with some of the world’s leading business people and confectionery specialists. You’ll already have done great things in your time at uni – meeting deadlines, prioritising tasks and showing a clear passion for what you do. You’re an agile learner. Someone with an eye for detail. A business networker and a resilient performer. You want an outlet for that innovative spirit of yours. Well, at Nestlé, you’ve well and truly found it.

To qualify, you’ll need to be currently studying a relevant degree. BA culinary arts management, BA food development and innovation, BSc (Hons) – applied food and nutrition, BSc (Hons) - bakery and patisserie technology or similar – something that shows you’re serious about the direction you’ll take here. Because that’s what really matters. You’ll be entering into a world of opportunity and you need to grab it with both hands. If you can do that, then this could be the start of a career that will have a big impact on our confectionary and the future of our business.
