Are you methodical, forward-thinking and keen to learn a wide range of engineering skills alongside experts?
Engineering in the world's largest food company is a challenging prospect, requiring the flexibility to master the different technologies and processes that we use throughout our factories. As a Nestle Engineering Graduate you will join a dedicated team in one of our factories or at the Nestlé Product Technology Centre (NPTC), working with some of the world’s biggest and most-loved brands, with fantastic opportunities to learn, develop and progress.
What can you expect?
Factory Engineering: In order to meet demand for a 24-hour operation and deliver against tough supply chain and customer service targets, our factory engineers strive to ensure our assets operate with the high efficiencies we expect whilst ensuring safety and food quality. In the two years on the graduate scheme, you'll typically either work at two factories across the UK where you'll quickly learn the fundamentals of engineering management within a factory environment.
NPTC Engineering: The NPTC focuses on excellence in confectionery worldwide, and is part of a global network of Nestlé research centres. Confectionery R&D at Nestlé involves working on Global product and process developments. In your two years on the graduate scheme, you'll typically work on new product and process developments as part of a multi-functional team where you'll quickly learn the fundamentals of Engineering within an R&D environment.
Whichever area you join the Engineering Graduate Scheme in, you should be willing to take on challenges and contribute from day one. Whether it's chocolate manufacturing, wafer baking, coffee extraction, freeze drying, robotics or high speed wrapping, you'll demonstrate the ability to anticipate problems and the confidence to step in and address issues when they arise. During the programme you will need to demonstrate a passion to understand our products and manufacturing processes, from detailed mechanical design through to the advanced process control required to make our products. You could quickly find yourself involved in a project to commission a new plant or technology, delivering business improvements around asset maintenance and reliability, or finding ways to reduce energy and waste within our operations.
Within our Engineering Graduate programme you'll enjoy the scope to deliver results using your creativity and initiative, and you'll be able to actively continue your development towards Chartered Engineering status. Throughout the programme you will be mentored by a senior engineering professional who will work in conjunction with your line managers to ensure you realise your full potential. We'll encourage you to develop your skills to enhance your career opportunities – opening up possibilities for you to become a Technical Specialist or R&D Specialist, Engineering Manager, Project Manager, or even to branch out into broader technical management roles.
We're looking for Engineering Graduates who are good communicators and effective decision makers who enjoy taking responsibility and take pride in doing a great job. With the motivation to drive continuous improvement within our factories, you'll also be ready to work across product categories and in various different locations, providing unparalleled opportunities for development.
