Nestlé Academy has built its reputation as a continual innovator over a history of more than a century and a half. For an ambitious IT candidate, it really is the best of both worlds. A safe, secure business with which to launch a successful career but also the kind of employer that encourages you to try new ways of doing things.
We are looking for people who love exploring ideas. Does that sound like you? For example, have you been wondering what kind of career you might want to develop? That bold, impressive ability to look critically at your choices is just what we want to see from the next generation of Nestlé innovators.
What can you expect?
As the world’s largest food and drink manufacturer, our IT needs are unsurprisingly complex. Which means that a role as an Infrastructure Technician here is a veritable box of delights for passionate practitioners. There are all manner of queries to which you’ll respond on a daily basis, but it’s as much about educating as it is about troubleshooting.
This is your chance to devise ideas that could have long-lasting impacts on the way we deliver IT solutions. You’ll be the person setting up people on their systems and working out the best ways to solve ad hoc and on-going issues, always looking for a new way to do things faster, more efficiently and with a bigger positive impact on productivity.
Join us and you’ll:
- Provide Level 1 IT support to 10,000 colleagues across the UK
- Learn about IT systems and principles, gaining experience in IT customer service, new technologies and windows operating systems
- Lead new initiatives to help us operate more efficiently and provide a best in class service to our colleagues
- Work collaboratively with other teams to develop your problem solving and communication skills
Who are we looking for?
You’re likely already in a very similar role and looking for the next stage in your development. So a Helpdesk Technician, First or Second Line Support, IT Infrastructure Technician or Network Support role. As such, your IT skills and knowledge will be outstanding.
Straight out of school or college? That’s fine too. We’re looking for team members with a keen passion for IT and experience using different technologies. Have you built a PC at home? Or support your family and friends with new devices? Those experiences are all relevant and show the skills we’re looking for in this role.
In addition, you’ll need five GCSEs including English, maths and science or a technology subject. Not to mention a Level 2 Apprenticeship or similar in a relevant area of study or equivalent qualification or experience. Otherwise, you’ll need to be prepared to take an aptitude test with a focus on IT skills, which of course, you should fly through!
It’s a role for a great communicator, of course, as you’ll be dealing with a huge number of people and ensuring that their needs are met. So you’ll need to be as confident verbally as you are in writing and able to demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, calm and even resilience when necessary. An outstanding problem solver, you’ll be in your element when faced with a perplexing challenge and able to manage your workflow to accommodate lots at the same time. Plus, you’ll need proven understanding of IT security measures, remote infrastructure and data recording and analysis.
