Supply Chain Apprenticeship

Job description

As a Supply Chain Apprentice, you’ll focus on the end-to-end process that starts with raw ingredients and ends in Nestlé products on the shelves. You’ll learn how we respond to challenges like Brexit and skills shortages and about how we adapt to become more resilient, efficient and sustainable.

Supply chain is a huge, diverse part of our business. Improving it requires the input of diverse perspectives. That’s why we want people from all backgrounds to join us here. It’s also why we’ll encourage you to be yourself—so that you can make the most original and valuable contribution you can.

Join us here in York and our mentorship will show you how to start a career in supply chain management—here at the biggest food and drink manufacturer in the world.

What the Supply Chain Apprenticeship entails

Over two-and-a-half years and three rotations, you’ll gain experience of the full supply chain process from negotiating with suppliers of raw materials to liaising with factories and arranging dispatches with hauliers. You’ll take on real-life projects that you’ll be accountable for. Sure, there will be expert support whenever you need it, but you’ll be making your own decisions.

Developing your understanding and skills is only part of what you’ll do here. You’ll also learn about the possible supply chain jobs you could do with Nestlé. As you grow in confidence, you’ll decide which area of supply chain you want to make the focus of your learning—and the home base of your future career.

Who is eligible for the Supply Chain Apprenticeship?

We don’t expect you to have previous supply chain experience, but you will need the drive to develop your professional skills— such as communication, attention to detail and relationship building—to a whole new level.

You’ll also need 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, with actual or predicted grades at 9–4 (or A*-C if received in 2017 or earlier). But what we’re really excited to learn about is your ambition and how you intend to pursue it at Nestlé.

What will I get out of a Nestlé Apprenticeship?

This is your route into a serious career at a global company—without going to university. You’ll become a skilled professional with your whole career ahead of you in the time it takes your friends at university to graduate. And you’ll be working for a global company where the career development potential is limitless.

A lot of apprenticeships offer brand experience—but rarely is that experience with such high profile names as KitKat, Nespresso, and Purina. You’ll see your work have a positive impact on those brands and learn skills like problem solving, relationship building and communication in the process.

With our ‘Force for Good’ initiative, you can have a positive impact on the planet, too. We’re committed to Creating Shared Value (CSV), which means ensuring our commercial objectives are aligned with social responsibilities like healthier eating and helping the environment. In supply chain, you’ll have a direct role in that by looking for cleaner, smarter ways to get our products where they need to be. That’s why, as well a way to launch your career, this is a chance to make a difference.
