Job description

You can expect a diverse experience from day one of the scheme. Through four rotational placements you’ll discover why Network Rail is the single biggest consumer of electricity and one of the biggest telecoms providers in Britain. By exploring renewable energy technologies and smart substation solutions, you’ll help us to make our electricity supplies greener and more resilient. You’ll work with cutting-edge technology and industry experts to develop your knowledge of electrification, signalling and telecommunications. You’ll help us to improve safety and reduce journey times by coming up with innovative solutions to industry issues.

In addition, you’ll benefit from formal learning opportunities and management training. You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers who will support your personal and professional development.

How long is the scheme and where you’ll be based
Two years and opportunities are available across Britain, at locations including Stratford, York, Glasgow, London, Basingstoke, Swindon, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Bedford, Manchester, Leeds.

What professional qualifications could you gain?
Significant evidence towards incorporated (IEng) or chartered (CEng) engineer status, accredited by the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC).

What opportunities are available at the end of the scheme?
Previous graduates have gone on to achieve internal promotion and become signalling designers or assistant design engineers. There are also plenty of opportunities for promotion to senior management positions across the organisation.

Minimum of a 2:2 in an Institution of Engineering Technology (IET) accredited degree.
