Job description
Forget the stereotype—finance and accounting at NFU Mutual is far more than just number crunching! Our Finance Graduate Scheme is all about shaping future Finance Leaders who can make a real impact. With a track record of keeping our financial strength rock-solid while helping customers reach their savings and investment goals, we’re looking for ambitious graduates who are ready to dive in. Over three years, you’ll gain hands-on experience across 2x 18-month placements in vital areas such as:
- Financial Planning & Analysis – this team plays a key role in partnering with the business to drive financial performance and decision-making. You’ll gain experience from across various areas, from sales and claims performance to strategic planning and reporting to senior leadership.
- Financial Reporting & Controls – this team oversees financial and regulatory reporting, ensuring strong financial controls and best practices across the Group. You’ll have the opportunity to develop technical expertise in statutory and regulatory reporting while also building relationships with stakeholders across the business as well as external auditors.
- Property Finance – this team manages transactions, budgeting, and financial reporting for all NFU Mutual properties. You’ll gain experience in areas like statutory reporting and budgeting and will work closely with the wider Property Team.
Plus, we’ll support you every step of the way as you work towards becoming a chartered accountant with CIMA or ACCA qualifications.
What you can expect
From day one, you’ll join a supportive, dynamic team where your ideas are valued and collaboration fuels success. You’ll take ownership of meaningful roles and responsibilities right from the start. We don’t just set the bar high—we help each other reach it! You’ll gain a behind-the-scenes understanding of how finance and accounting drives the business—whether it’s managing risk, crunching the numbers, or influencing strategy. As you grow, you’ll have the chance to partner with different areas of the business, providing your expertise and insights to help shape key decisions and steer the company’s direction. Along the way, you’ll sharpen both your technical skills and the leadership qualities that will set you apart.
Your future
Throughout the scheme, you’ll strengthen your core finance skills, earn qualifications, and develop essential competencies to set you up for a successful career. You'll be fully supported along the way, with a dedicated buddy and mentor, plus a strong network of current and former graduates. As you near the end of the scheme, a careers coach will be there to guide you in planning your next steps.
It’s not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.

When you join our team, you can expect a supportive culture and an attractive range of rewards and benefits including:
