Job description
Pricing plays a key role in setting the cost of our insurance policies. They analyse data, assess risks, and predict trends to ensure premiums are fair and competitive. By balancing customer needs with business goals, they help the company stay profitable while offering great value to customers. It’s all about using insights and smart thinking to get the price right!
Our Pricing team is a forward-thinking group that values diversity and fosters a supportive environment for all. With a strong "grow our own" initiative, we are dedicated to nurturing talent and developing our future leaders, whether in people management or technical expertise. We believe in empowering our team members to reach their full potential through mentorship and continuous learning opportunities. In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you'll also have the chance to pursue professional qualifications in areas like Data Science, positioning yourself at the forefront of industry innovation. Join us and be part of a team that truly invests in your growth and success.
What you can expect
In our exciting 3-year scheme, you’ll dive into various aspects of insurance pricing with a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Extracting, cleaning, and analysing data for modelling purposes.
- Conducting complex analyses—like multivariate, root cause, and performance testing—to inform continuous improvement of our data and models.
- Refining and operating pricing models and reporting results to support informed business decisions.
- Developing rating logic that ensures effective pricing outcomes.
- Implementing quality control processes to guarantee that our models and data deliver the expected outputs.
- Preparing reports, communicating findings, addressing queries, and taking ownership of follow-up actions to provide excellent service to both the team and business stakeholders.
You’ll work collaboratively on daily tasks while also having the chance to participate in exciting projects and change initiatives.
We’ll support your career development with a structured plan that includes biannual performance reviews, each offering the potential for competitive salary increases and progression to the next level. Join us and shape the future of pricing.
Your future
Throughout the scheme, you’ll strengthen your core skills, earn recognised qualifications, and develop essential competencies to set you up for a successful career. You'll be fully supported along the way, with a dedicated buddy and mentor, plus a strong network of current and former graduates. As you near the end of the scheme, a careers coach will be there to guide you in planning your next steps.
It’s not all about work either. We encourage our graduates to get involved in extracurricular activities, from volunteering and organising charity or social events to representing NFU Mutual at industry events, all in line with our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) framework.
