Job description

We build technology solutions, partnering closely with the business to deliver leading edge software products to support critical business operations. In a Software Engineering Graduate role you will be a key player in a team that is responsible for the development and enhancement of systems used across our Manufacturing Plants, Regional Sales Units and Dealerships. From creating a safe, modern working environment to running comprehensive training and development programmes, we ensure that all our graduates are given the resources and the encouragement to hit the ground running and fulfil their potential. You will be responsible for understanding business needs and determining appropriate technology options whilst maintaining the highest levels of quality.

What you will learn:

  • Software development – using a range of technologies from the Nissan Alliance Standard Frame work
  • Modern systems delivery at enterprise level including development tools, infrastructure, techniques, frameworks and approaches
  • System design and architecture
  • IT Service, strategy and design
  • Knowledge management – acquiring business knowledge, key to understanding the business and offering technology solutions

Nissan Motor Manufacturing Ltd (NMUK) is one of the biggest car production plants in the UK. Our incredible location in the North East of England gives us access not only to some of the best workforces in the UK but also direct, international transport links through the Port of Tyne. This enviable combination means we can ship 9,000 cars a week from of our world-leading manufacturing facility.

Nissan Sunderland plant is responsible for production of the Qashqui, Juke, Leaf and Infiniti Q30 models. We produce around 500,000 vehicles a year and export to over 130 international markets. All of this is made possible for our permanent workforce of over 6,700 people, with support from additional contractors and suppliers.

Person requirements

  • Demonstrable passion for technology and innovation
  • An understanding of modern systems delivery including development tools, infrastructure, techniques, frameworks and approaches
  • Pragmatic problem solving approach with the ability to make decisions and take measured risks
  • Strong communication skills enabling the ability to work in a cross functional diverse multicultural team environment
  • Flexibility to travel – this may be required depending upon demands

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • Must have or are expected to gain at least a 2.1 in a IT, Computing or Technology related degree
  • Hands on experience of a programming language such as Java or C#
  • You must have permission to live and work in the UK without restriction at the time of hire
