The worldwide Group Information Systems (Group IS) team is responsible for the delivery and support of all Information System services across the NSG Group. It promotes and delivers high quality and cost-effective information systems and services to meet the needs, objectives and strategies of the group as a whole and those of individual business units. Support is provided to a wide range of activities, from large manufacturing locations to small distribution outlets.
Graduates will work on live projects including applications development, process configuration, infrastructure design and implementation as well as technical support. Extensive training is provided in the skills needed to perform roles technically to a high standard.
The NSG Group is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass and glazing products for architectural, automotive and technical glass sectors.
With around 28,000 permanent employees, the group has principal manufacturing operations in 28 countries and sales in over 130. With just over a third of our sales in Europe, around a third are in Japan and the rest are primarily in North and South America, South East Asia and China.
In June 2006, the NSG Group acquired Pilkington, renowned for the invention of the Float Glass process, which revolutionised the world’s glass industry. The globally recognised Pilkington brand is widely used in our architectural and automotive businesses.
The group operates three worldwide business lines:
- Architectural supplies glass for buildings and solar energy applications.
- Automotive serves the original equipment, aftermarket replacement and specialised transport glazing markets.
- Technical glass products include very thin glass for displays, lenses and light guides for printers, as well as glass fibre used in battery separators and engine timing belts.
Group IS aims to develop flexible technical and business orientated professionals, capable of progressing both within the IS function and into non-IS functions. To support this objective, general business training is provided to all graduates joining IS.
The job holder must be a self-starter and be able to communicate and work in an international team. This requires someone who can work with minimum direction and can learn how NSG systems operate. The person must also be able to empathise with system users.
The job holder must be prepared to undertake some overseas travel. A full UK driving licence and car ownership would be an advantage due to limited public transport to the site.
If you believe you have the skills and abilities we need and there is a match between our profile and your aspirations, we very much want to hear from you!
