Job description

Engineering/ Product Design/ Business/ Management

We are looking for a number of talented graduates to join various departments at Numatic International. Whether you are due to graduate (or have recently graduated) in engineering, product design, business, management, or similar – we want to hear from you.

We have several exciting opportunities to join our Graduate Development Programme commencing Summer/Autumn 2019 to be based in Chard, Somerset. You will join a two-year graduate development programme within your respective department, where you will specialise in your own technical discipline developing and enhancing your skills and experience. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to develop an extensive portfolio of skills through a variety of interactive workshops focusing on both personal and professional growth, followed by the opportunity to put what you have learnt into practice in the work environment with plenty of coaching and mentoring to empower you to succeed.

Working for Numatic will give you real responsibility, provide you with the chance to be mentored by some of the best in the business, and the opportunity to make your mark on the company as a whole. We want to hear your ideas because you’re the future of our business, and so we will give you the platform to make them become a reality. It’s much more than just a job – so what are you waiting for?

The opportunity
We are looking for talented graduates in the following departments:

  • Product Development

Product Development is key to our business, without it we would not exist. Our teams are responsible for designing and developing products from concept to market introduction. As we manufacture our products on-site, there are many opportunities to be involved in the whole new product introduction (NPI) process.

Working in our Product Development department will involve working closely with all design and manufacturing teams (i.e. design, electronics/hardware, electrical, motors, software/firmware, production, purchasing and procurement and manufacturing). Collaborating at all stages of the design process you will work concurrently with all disciplines and departments to get the right product to market on time and in budget.

The Product Development team is of such a size that the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the product development process is a reality and you will be encouraged to seize the opportunity. Product development is not compartmentalised at Numatic, and we offer a broad base on which to develop your skills and love of product development in all its glory.

So, if you are due to graduate (or have graduated) in product design, mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering or similar – this could be the right pathway for you.

  • Manufacturing and production

We manufacture around 5,000 products on a daily basis, and aim to control the key processes that are used in the manufacture of our products, including injection moulding, rotational moulding, laser cutting, robot welding, fabrication, paint and assembly.

As a Graduate working within our Manufacturing department, you will be responsible for introducing new products into our factory and improving/enhancing our manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production of our products. So, whether it’s Purchasing and Supply Chain, Assembly, Mouldings, Inventory, Planning and Production Engineering, all play an important role to ensure our manufacturing processes are fully optimised so that:

  • our products are produced safely;
  • our products are of the best quality;
  • our products are made in the most cost-effective way;
  • our production processes have minimal adverse impact on the environment.

So, if you are due to graduate (or have graduated) in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, manufacturing/production management, business and management or similar – this could be the right pathway for you.

Whether you prefer to be creative and work with concepts and ideas, or prefer to focus on detail, analysing and solving problems – we want to hear from you. We recognise the importance of diversity and have opportunities to suit.

In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits, and to make it even more appealing we offer relocation support to help with those initial costs of moving closer to our base in Somerset, easily accessible from the likes of Exeter and Taunton.

What we are looking for

At Numatic, we are all about innovation, common sense and logic. It means collaboration, pushing the boundaries, stretching yourself and others and challenging the status quo to ensure that we are continuously striving to achieve the very best in what we do. You will need to be:

  • A practical, pragmatic and logical problem-solver
  • An articulate, influential communicator
  • A collaborative, supportive team-player
  • A calm, resilient individual able to work with changing priorities
  • Focused on results
  • Able to embrace change
  • Commercially aware
