We are looking for a number of undergraduates to join the Product Development department at Numatic International. We are interested in hearing from students who are studying product design, mechanical engineering, electronics engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics engineering or similar.
As an undergraduate working within our Product Development department, you will play an important role in supporting our experienced Engineers with enhancing the design and performance of existing products and designing and developing new, cutting-edge products to enter the market. Working closely with all engineering teams (i.e. product design, electronics, electrical/motors, software, production and manufacturing) you will collaborate at all stages of the design process.
Working for Numatic will give you real responsibility, a chance to be mentored by some of the best in the business, and the opportunity to make your mark on the company as a whole. We want to hear your ideas because you’re the future of our business, and so we also give you the platform to make them a reality. It’s more than just a job – so what are you waiting for?
Product Development is key to our business, without it we would not exist. Our teams are responsible for designing and developing products across the whole product development life-cycle from idea/concept through to introduction (NPI) to the market via our on-premise manufacturing facility.
All of our Engineers make an important contribution to product development, whether it’s concept generation, prototyping and testing within Product Design; designing the motors that control our products in electrics/motors through to designing and developing robust hardware and software solutions in electronics/embedded software – everyone has the opportunity to see products become ‘real life’ all from the same premises in Chard.
In return, we offer a competitive salary and benefits, and to make it even more appealing we offer relocation support to help with those initial costs of moving closer to our base in Somerset, easily accessible from the likes of Exeter and Taunton.
Founded in 1969, Numatic International has a proven track record of designing cutting-edge cleaning products for a wide range of industries. From the iconic ‘Henry’ vacuum cleaner range for consumer markets, to our impressive ride-on scrubber dryer machines for industrial markets – we have over 150 different product lines with thousands of design variations, but we are not stopping there. With emphasis on new product development, using advanced technology (including cordless battery power, autonomous/robotic operation) – we have embarked on an exciting, transformative journey to build on the ongoing success of our business.
We continue to invest in and expand our UK manufacturing capability, where from our impressive facility in the heart of the South West of England, our talented employees can see our products become reality from initial concept through to final production. This is part of the reason we are focusing on investing in future talent to join us on our journey and help design/manufacture our future.
At Numatic, Engineering means innovation, common sense and logic. It means collaboration, pushing the boundaries, stretching yourself and others and challenging the status quo to ensure that we are continuously striving to achieve the very best in what we do. You will need to be:

- A collaborative, supportive team-player;

Whether you prefer to be creative and work with concepts and ideas, or prefer to focus on detail, analysing and solving problems – we want to hear from you. We recognise the importance of diversity and have opportunities to suit.
