Job description

If you are a graduate, or about to graduate, and you want to start your career in an innovative and rapidly advancing sector, tackling one of today’s biggest social challenges, then our Graduate scheme could be for you.

The Graduate scheme at Orbit is a fantastic opportunity for you to develop a holistic understanding of the world of social housing and market sale, while developing technical competencies in your specialist field.

Orbit will encourage and enable our graduates to challenge the way things are done, find solutions to real-life challenges, and develop into our future leaders. We see our graduates driving innovation and change and using their ideas to help shape our future.

One of our opportunities is for a Graduate Trainee in market sale based in Northampton. The Market Sale team is part of our Property Investment division, and is the development and sales arm of the organisation, responsible for building around 1,700 properties a year for rent and sale. We build a range of homes to meet need and aspiration and are proud to offer our customers a flexible housing journey, including affordable rent, private rent, shared ownership, market sale and independent living.

In this key role we will provide you with an invaluable insight into Housing and develop your understanding of how our business interacts and manages relationships with our customers. You will learn about commercial elements including sales and marketing as well as technical areas including land management, quantity surveying and asset management.

Upon successful completion of the scheme our intention is to offer you a permanent position and continue to support and develop you to become a future leader within our organisation.

About the Scheme
The scheme is a two-year placement starting in September 2018.

At Orbit, people come first, and we have a culture that will help you to thrive. You will receive a robust company-wide induction on top of a local induction with your peers. You will then begin rotating placements, with year one based mainly in your chosen department and with two placements in other areas of the business. In year two you will take on a trainee role in your chosen department including a salary increase based on performance.

You will also have access to coaching, mentoring, a buddy, the opportunity to study for a qualification linked to your role, attendance at external events (e.g. conferences), we will enroll you on our management development programme, and you will have regular reviews and 121s with your line manager alongside a unique Personal Development Plan.

We offer an excellent flexible benefits package including private medical insurance, discounted dental insurance, gym membership, generous holiday entitlement (starting at 27 days plus bank holidays) and pension scheme.
