Joining the analytical team at ORH will enable you to apply your technical and problem-solving skills to real-world issues. Providing data-oriented evidence to our consultants, you will be directly influencing the decision-making at emergency services around the world. As a result of expansion into the US and Europe we are looking for a numerate graduate with a desire to make a difference within this critical and ever-changing sector.
The Data Analyst position will involve: understanding and analysing large data sets on high profile public projects; specifying data needs and delivering accurate, meaningful analysis; and working with ORH consultants to model options for improved service delivery.
The work is project-oriented and mostly office-based, although opportunities will arise for visiting clients with ORH consultants. Experience will be gained of the complete consultancy process and there are good opportunities to progress within the company.
Although we are expanding, the company is relatively small, therefore making the right appointment is key. We are offering a flexible start date to encourage applications from a range of candidates.
Flexible start date.
ORH is a management consultancy that uses advanced Operational Research (OR) techniques to support resource planning in the public sector. We specialise in solving complex locational planning problems for the emergency services, but we also carry out studies for health authorities, sports bodies and other public sector organisations.
Our clients face many different challenges, but they share a need to optimise operations and deploy valuable resources in the most effective and efficient way. ORH uses sophisticated analysis and modelling techniques to deliver robust solutions that are objective, evidence-based and quantified.
The ORH ethos is to keep an open mind, in order to deliver optimal solutions adapted to each client’s unique circumstances. Our consultants take a flexible yet rigorous approach, using quantitative techniques to provide independent advice. We are committed to getting it right, for the good of our clients and the people who rely on their services.
Proficiency in the use of Excel is essential; experience in large database manipulation would be an advantage (Access or SQL), as would an understanding of GIS. For those with the appropriate skills, there are also opportunities to use ORH’s in-house simulation and optimisation modelling software.
We undertake complex study work often to tight deadlines, so there is a strong emphasis on working closely together. The ability to assess one’s own work and to communicate well with colleagues and customers is also important for this role.
