Job description

We are seeking technology enthusiasts for a fast-track development programme at Betfair. The successful applicants will join our Delivery Enablement team as part of this two-year graduate programme. During this time you will be able to take advantage of technical mentors, and will be able to rotate within the different teams that make up the Delivery Enablement department. You will work alongside DevOps Engineers, Project Managers, Solutions Designers, Network Engineers , Database Administrators and thousands of developers . You may also have the opportunity to work in our technology centres in Portugal, Romania and Dublin.

You will be expected to pick up development and infrastructure skills such as continuous delivery, a variety of scripting languages, network and storage technologies alongside Agile delivery methods. Upon successful completion of the programme you will be furnished with the skills and knowledge to be a future leader of Delivery Enablement and within the wider Technology teams.

The Delivery Enablement Team
Paddy Power Betfair is a leading player in a competitive, regulated, time critical and hugely transactional environment. Technology is at the heart of most things we do. The Delivery Enablement team’s goal is to use automation to help the development teams get their products in front of customers, faster and more reliably.

To this end Paddy Power Betfair have built an award winning private cloud, with which we can ensure fast and repeatable deployments of all our customer facing applications but also of our databases / networking and infrastructure. Our cloud is built on OpenStack – a cutting-edge, open source cloud technology software.

The Delivery Enablement team is tasked with continuing to push the boundaries of what can be achieved within the DevOps space. We also aim to give back to the Open Source communities we gain so much from. We aim to have valuable and interesting presentations to share at each OpenStack Summit conference, which take place every 6 months, each one in a major world city. Our last 3 graduates through this scheme have presented their work at the Summit.

Person requirements

  • Excellent technical and problem solving skills

  • A strong sense of good practice with respect to infrastructure and development techniques
  • A capacity to review and be reviewed constructively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent team working skills and collaborative skills.
  • You might have a degree in: computer science, mathematics, science or numerical degree.

Qualifications and experience requirements

  • To have achieved or be on course for a minimum of a 2.1 in your degree
  • A minimum of 450 points on your Leaving Certificate (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 260 UCAS Tariff points (or equivalent)
  • The ambition to succeed in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • The motivation for career progression
  • The flexibility to work well in teams and on your own
  • Excellent communication skills
