About Redgate Software
This is the most exciting time there’s ever been to work in the software space in general and the database world specifically. Continuous delivery practices, once the domain of Agile developers who were pushing the envelope of software development, have moved into the enterprise. The database needs to keep up too and at Redgate we’re making it possible.
We make ingeniously simple software used by 650,000 IT professionals working on the Microsoft data platform. More than 100,000 companies use our products, including 91% of the Fortune 100. Our philosophy is to design highly usable, reliable software which elegantly solves the problems developers and database administrators face every day.
We’re privately owned and employ about 230 people in Cambridge and Pasadena. We’ve been repeatedly recognised as one of the UK’s best employers, and we’re ranked eighth best internship in the country by Rate My Placement for a scheme of our size.

Working at Redgate
People at Redgate will tell you we offer a genuinely different working environment. Redgate is relaxed, informal and fun, yet will challenge you to do your best work on real products.
We have flexible working hours, no dress code, and on-site perks which simply make life easier (and a t-shirt printing press, just for fun). We welcome open discussions and free flowing ideas, and champion learning and continuous improvement.
Every team has different challenges and they each decide the specifics of how they work. We’re passionate about the benefits of an agile approach, strong technical practices and learning from each other about what works and what doesn’t.
Joining us as an Intern
Each year we hire a number of interns who work in real teams developing our products and services. In 2017, we’re looking for eight Software Developer interns, one UX Designer intern, and one Information Systems intern.
We strongly believe being an intern isn’t about watching people working, it’s about doing real work from day one, on things that make a real difference.
You’ll join one of our software development teams and you’ll be expected to contribute to, work on, and help develop our software. You’ll be surrounded by people who are experts in their field, and who care about what they do. They’ll show you the ropes, help you get stuck in, and make sure you make the most of your placement.
Don’t just take our word for it. Matt Harrison, a 2016 Software Developer intern, says: “I’ve learnt lots. I haven’t been side-lined off. I was thrown in straight away, coding by day two on real codebases! I’ve been trusted to get on and do good work, with help and support as and when I’ve needed it.”
Simple recruitment process
Our philosophy of simplicity extends to our recruitment process. There are no application forms or assessment centres, and you’ll be interviewed by the people you’ll work with. Simply head to our website to apply
Future opportunities following the internship
Should the internship go well for you and for us, we’ll try our best to offer you something for the following year, whether that’s a subsequent internship or a job offer. We’re in this for the long run and we’re looking for people who are as passionate about software as we are.
