What you’ll need
Our Apprentices need to be passionate about manufacturing engineering. So you’ll be analytical, motivated and, most importantly, endlessly curious about how things are made. You’ll also have to be numerate and process focused – something you’ll have proven with an impressive set of exam results. You’ll need a minimum of three Highers or equivalent, between A* and B, which include Maths and either Physics, Chemistry or Engineering plus one other subject.
Our high-performance, integrated power solutions are at the cutting edge of technology. From powering huge commercial vessels to nuclear submarines, supersonic fighter jets to highly efficient passenger planes, or rail locomotives to luxury yachts, we go above and beyond to create better. And it’s all thanks to our people. Whether they work in engineering or finance, manufacturing or project management, our 50,000-strong team work together to deliver excellence in the air, on land and at sea – to customers in 150 nations around the world.
Trusted to deliver excellence.
We recruit, select and develop our people on merit, irrespective of their race, colour, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or any other characteristic.
Our three year programme will see you undertake core training with one of our local providers to give you a broad appreciation of engineering principles, resulting in an SVQ L2. You’ll also start your HNC programme. Following this broad training, you’ll return to our Inchinnan site where you’ll embark on an SVQ L3, undertaking a series of three month placements which will give you practical knowledge of all of our Manufacturing Engineering departments. You’ll learn how to manage projects and costs, and also how to evaluate engineering designs, solve engineering problems, and implement quality assurance methods. On completion of the HNC, although not part of the Modern Apprenticeship, it’s expected that you will embark on an appropriate degree programme.
