Job description

From working on solutions for sustainable energy security, to being responsible for powering the whole of the UK's Royal Navy nuclear submarine fleet, we want engineers looking for exceptional challenges to join us. Our nuclear business is involved in truly unique work; where else could you experience major UK nuclear projects? Our reputation is built on a 50-year heritage in serving the naval and civil nuclear industries, but we’re focused on the future. For example, not only do we provide expertise and support for the Navy’s existing fleet of submarines, we’ll also be delivering design and build support for future generations. And we’re continually building on our expertise and expanding our operations when it comes to providing instrumentation systems throughout the civil nuclear industry.

The world needs the finest minds to work on innovative solutions to energy security and global defence – and for you, joining our structured graduate development programme could be the first step on an incredible career path.

The programme

Controls Engineering focuses on the measurement and control of wider engineering systems. The huge variety of different engineering systems used globally means you can expect almost limitless opportunities and challenges throughout your career. Our graduate programme is designed to give you an immersive, hands-on experience. You’ll get first-class training and support, and learn from some of the most respected and highly qualified professionals in the field. As you develop, the challenges will increase in complexity and responsibility, combining on-the-job learning with training modules and project work. You’ll get varied experience across the breadth of our Nuclear business, including attachments in both Submarines and Civil Nuclear. From this foundation, you could choose to become a specialist, or to broaden your skill base further in order to develop leadership experience.

What you’ll get

  • Competitive salary
  • Work towards professional accreditation/chartership of bodies such as NI, IMechE, IET, IoP or IChemE.
  • Bonus schemes
  • Training specific to your development needs
  • An organised trip to a dockyard to understand more about the submarines enterprise
  • A competitive pension
  • Leisure facilities, clubs, societies and social activities
  • Support from professional mentors, career coaches and your Graduate Development Consultant
