Job description
Environmental, Social and Governance - get the career you want at RSM
Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) is a growing area of focus for businesses. Stakeholders such as investors and consumers are expecting more than just profit generation. We are in a unique position to help businesses make sustainable choices that set them up for success in the long-term while promoting business ethics and looking after people and the planet.
RSM is seeing significant demand for its ESG consultancy services from across a wide range of the market, businesses of all sizes and across all sectors. The firm has already invested significantly in its ESG consultancy team, and we now seek to further enhance the team.
As part of our drive to become the first-choice advisor to the middle market, RSM wants to deepen our ESG services to meet demand and to fulfil larger projects in this space.
RSM’s ESG consulting graduate apprenticeship scheme will give you all the skills and support you need to unlock a future that’s packed with opportunities and new experiences. You’ll enjoy a fast-tracked business career that recognises your potential and rewards your ambition.
When you join our team, you’ll enjoy a powerful combination of on-the-job learning and structured training – not to mention an impressive client list to work with. You’ll discover a culture that nurtures individuality and an environment where everyone is supported to reach their potential. With us, you’ll always be moving forward.
What does our environmental, social and governance consulting team do?
The ESG consulting team is one of the newest teams within RSM, growing rapidly and with the full support of RSM’s senior leadership team. You will be part of an agile, dynamic, and entrepreneurial team within a leading business advisory practice. RSM has over 4,000 people in the UK and is part of a network which operates in around 120 countries globally.
Our work is typically bespoke for each client, and therefore you will have the opportunity to learn across a broad range of ESG topics. Example project engagements include:
ESG strategy and advisory;
Taskforce on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) advisory and reporting;
Third party assurance reporting over ESG-related non-financial data;
Net Zero strategy and plans;
ESG Maturity assessments;
Modern Slavery “beyond compliance” reviews;
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and policy;
Race Equality Code and Governance Framework reviews.
What can you expect?
At RSM, you’ll be a key member of our team from day one. Our graduate apprenticeship programme allows you to experience working in the consultancy team alongside experienced members of the firm. You’ll benefit from on-the-job training and ongoing support from colleagues and senior staff, gaining access to our internal training courses that will help you develop in the role. This hands-on early experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career. You will also have a buddy (with one to two years’ experience) to help you through your first days and weeks in the firm, and access to experienced mentors and your line manager to support your development.
This programme presents exciting career opportunities for you to join a team focused on delivering real value to clients. You will also be supported to gain real world experience in a broad range of ESG topics. We’ll encourage you through our rapid development and progression pathways, from Analyst to Consultant and beyond.
What we look for
Working with our clients is at the heart of what we do, so building relationships externally and internally will be key. We’re looking for team players, who are proactive and enjoy working with others as well as being passionate about the issues we address within ESG.
You may be working on multiple projects at the same time, so time management and organisational skills are key. Reporting to clients is an integral part of what we deliver – strong report writing skills are an added benefit. Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is essential.
Whilst not a requirement to have a degree directly related to ESG, you should be able to demonstrate how your academic skills will support work in this field and crucially show your passion and desire for working in ESG. Any practical experience should be highlighted.
If that sounds like you, we know you’ll enjoy being part of our team.
Flexible working
At RSM we work hard to create an environment where our people can make a difference - to themselves, their career, their teams, and to the success of our firm and clients. Diversity and inclusion at RSM
At RSM, inclusion and diversity are central to our values. We have an authentic focus on intentional inclusion, enabling our people to feel they can bring their whole self to work and ensuring everyone feels supported, respected and confident to make a valuable contribution.
