Job description

Our 12-month industrial placement programme is ideal for students looking to complete a placement during their time at university. The placement is designed to provide you with a flavour of what it is like to work at Sellafield Ltd and although you are only with us for a year, we can assure you that you will still feel you have made a difference.

As part of the Industrial Placement programme you will get the chance to take part in activities that will allow you develop your skills in line with our Graduate Programme and also allow you to obtain valuable employability skills and experience.

Business Profession Industrial Placements

The intent of the scheme is to provide a broad overview of Business Management at Sellafield Ltd. You’ll never spend more than six months in a placement and may also get the opportunity to go on secondment into the supply chain.

You could learn new business improvement techniques, support the Risk Manager in setting up their risk management arrangements or assist to model different risk-based scenarios, engage with stakeholders, set up governance arrangements and contribute to the writing of a business case.

You could find yourself supporting a Communications Manager to build their communications strategy for important changes to the business to flow from the senior leaders to operational workers and all the people in between.

No two days will be the same. You will support, coach and advise people on ways to improve the way they do things, learning continuous improvement tools, techniques and behaviours as used by many manufacturing companies like Toyota and Nissan etc.. You will be responsible for making things quicker, easier, safer and cheaper.

What we are looking for

We’re looking for students who can take on true responsibility on major projects, which will contribute to our present challenge and future mission; be involved in business-critical work and experience far reach training with support from many members of the existing Sellafield Ltd community.

We are looking for people who thrive on solving problems, who are good at engaging with a vast array of stakeholders (up to and including the senior business leaders), and who can facilitate discussion up to and including in workshop-size environments. If that’s you then hit 'apply for job'!


You’ll need to be on track or expected to achieve at least a 2:1 in your degree discipline and ideally will be heading into your final year of study after completion of the placement.

£17,433 - £18,538

plus annual leave of 25.5 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
