Suffolk County Council, Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, East Suffolk Council and West Suffolk Council are some of the local government authorities responsible for maintaining countywide public sector services within Suffolk.
Our aim is to lead as exemplar employers, offering opportunities to young people who are driven and want to make a difference to the people of Suffolk.
The industrial placement programme is specifically designed for UK undergraduates who are seeking to gain and develop employability skills. This consists of a 9 - 12 month placement within a chosen council and department.
This placement sits within Suffolk County Council's Fire Service ICT team, which focuses on the blue light element of fire and rescue service systems, including systems which alert fire personnel to incidents, provide information to the incident ground using mobile data terminals on fire engines, allow communications through mobile phones, airwave radios and WiFi and systems to capture information which can be used by other teams to monitor performance. The majority of desktop administration and provision including some corporate services such as email are delivered by colleagues in Suffolk County Council's ICT team.
You can expect to be paid the National Living Wage for your hours worked and you will be eligible to take annual leave. Business travel expenses, where eligible, will be reimbursed.
Flexible working is actively encouraged throughout the council.
