About Teach English In China
Here at Teach English In China we all have two things in common; a passion for discovering China’s rich culture and a desire to help others experience it for themselves. Since 2005, we have been doing just that, organising teaching placements for over 1,000 people.
We believe living and working in China is a valuable experience that everyone should get the chance to do for a period of time that best suits them. That’s why we have teamed up with schools and organisations across China to provide a variety of programme options, meaning that whether you are a graduate, a student or have just completed your A-levels, you have the chance to discover this fascinating country through the eyes of a local without needing teaching experience or knowledge of Mandarin.
As a team of ex-foreign teachers, we have first-hand knowledge of living and working in China, which we use to deliver a high-quality service to candidates. We offer training, help with lesson planning and the chance to meet other participants before you go to China. Most of our teachers have no prior teaching experience, and our programmes are designed to ensure they leave feeling confident, prepared and supported.
We attach great importance to supporting our teachers before, during and after their placements and giving them the opportunity to develop their skills and career beyond the placement.
- Paid Teaching Placement: Open to final year students and graduates of any degree discipline, this programme is designed to give applicants an insight into living and teaching in China. We provide all applicants with a 120-hour TEFL course and a 2-week teacher training camp as part of the programme, meaning that no prior teaching experience or knowledge of Mandarin is necessary. With a salary of between £570-1600 per month, long national holidays and free accommodation, this is a great option for anyone looking to gain exciting international experience whilst getting paid!
- Summer Internship: Students and graduates of any degree subject have the chance to take part in one of our three Summer Internship teaching placements, which last between 2-7 weeks. Summer Interns are responsible for teaching fun and engaging lessons to students aged between 7-15 according to a full-time schedule. Interns receive £140 per month, as well as free food and accommodation. This is a great way to gain teaching experience and an insight into life in China during the university summer break!
- Homestay Programme: Open to anyone over the age of 18 who has completed A-levels or equivalent, our Homestay Programme gives applicants a unique insight into life within a Chinese family home for a period of 1, 2 or 3 months over the summer or winter vacation. Tutoring for 15 hours per week in exchange for food and accommodation, and a stipend of £100 per month. Participants can expect to gain valuable English teaching experience whilst learning about Chinese culture and language.
