Job description

At Transport for Wales (TfW) we have big plans to transform the Welsh transport network. It’s our vision to connect communities, create jobs and make travel across Wales and the borders more accessible than ever. That’s where you come in.

As a Transport Planning Graduate, you’ll work closely with teams within the Planning, Development and Advisory Services directorate. You’ll provide technical support and guidance on transport matters across a wide range of exciting projects. Professional and effective, you’ll offer policy advice shaped by documentation, appraisals and business cases. Not only will you gain key transferrable skills, but you’ll also take part in several rotations during the scheme. You could spend time with the consultancy, analytical team, active travel or bus teams.

Throughout this two-year course, you’ll work towards achieving a professional qualification. As part of your learning, you’ll take part in six practical development workshops and four webinar sessions. Plus, you’ll combine your academic and practical learning to deliver a personal project that contributes to TfW.

Byddwch yn darparu cymorth ac arweiniad technegol ar faterion trafnidiaeth ar draws ystod eang o brosiectau cyffrous. Yn broffesiynol ac yn effeithiol, byddwch yn cynnig cyngor ar bolisi sy’n seiliedig ar ddogfennau, gwerthusiadau ac achosion busnes. Yn ogystal â datblygu sgiliau trosglwyddadwy allweddol, byddwch hefyd yn cymryd rhan mewn sawl cylchdro yn ystod y cynllun. Gallech dreulio amser gyda’r ymgynghoriaeth, y tîm dadansoddi, y tîm teithio llesol neu’r tîm bysiau.

Drwy gydol y cwrs dwy flynedd hwn, byddwch yn gweithio tuag at ennill cymhwyster proffesiynol. Fel rhan o’ch taith ddysgu, byddwch yn cymryd rhan mewn chwe gweithdy datblygu ymarferol a phedair sesiwn gweminar. Hefyd, byddwch yn cyfuno eich dysgu academaidd ac ymarferol i gyflawni prosiect personol sy’n cyfrannu at TrC.

What we are looking for

You’ll be a confident communicator, as you’ll liaise with stakeholders and TfW partners. And, you’ll regularly engage with fellow graduates as you build your own internal network. You’ll do this while taking advantage of on-the-job training, further developing your technical competency.

To apply, you’ll need a postgraduate (Masters) degree in a relevant subject such as transport and planning, urban transport or transport planning and engineering. Work or volunteering experience in a related field is desirable, as are Welsh language skills.
