Prisons - Graduate Leadership Development Programme

Job description

This is a career move that gets a reaction. But whether you make people smile, laugh, or cry, it’s nothing compared to…

…making up to £30,000, a difference to people’s lives, a name for yourself with some of the UK’s biggest employers, and a policy proposal that could change the prison system. That’s because we’re experts at developing graduates of all disciplines to become leaders, as frontline prison officers on our two-year Leadership Development Programme. So much so, we’re in the top half of the Times Top 100 list of graduate employers.

Joining a close-knit team of graduates as driven as you are, you’ll develop invaluable skills as a prison officer. From education initiatives and getting prisoners to work, to cell searches and spotting power shifts amongst prisoners, you’ll help to keep the prison running smoothly. There’s lots of responsibility and you’ll need great communication skills, but with full training and a mentor, you’ll be ready for it. You’ll even benefit from a funded Master’s degree and work placement that could be with one of the top corporate employers we partner with. No matter where you want your career to go, the talents and confidence you’ll develop on our graduate programme will set you up for life.

We’re on a mission to reduce the £18 billion and societal cost of reoffending. That’s why we’ll even fund your ideas on how to improve the wellbeing of prisoners – and system as a whole. For example, in prisons, our grads have been the drivers behind mental health campaigns, celebrating a socially-distanced Eid, prisoner-led TV channels, and more. And nationally, they’re sharing their experiences with ministers, supporting governors, and presenting policies that could change society for everyone.

It’s an opportunity like no other. It’ll also a chance to surprise yourself, and everyone else, by just how much of an impact you’ll make. You’ll never be bored. Or taken for granted. Everything you do with Unlocked will have meaning.
