Systems Applications Analyst

Job description

Reporting to the Project Manager and as part of our IT support team you will develop and support IT systems across our Logistics division, including:

  • Identifying and documenting logistics systems process improvements
  • Liaising with end-users and management to gather requirements
  • Developing and testing new features and processes in logistics Systems
  • Developing and maintaining UNIX shell scripts used to support operational processes
  • Developing integration processes between internal and external systems
  • Producing reports from logistics systems for customers and end-users
  • Migrating solutions from test environment to production environment
  • Documenting system changes, adhering to company standards
  • Providing second line support for logistics systems
  • Supporting system users during implementation of new processes

What we are looking for

  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a technical subject achieved at level 2:1 or above
  • Have graduated within the last 24 months
  • Valid UK driving licence
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Aptitude for systems problem-solving

Having any of the following will be beneficial

  • Systems analysis knowledge
  • Knowledge of logistics systems
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and practices
  • Understanding of databases (ideally Oracle)
  • SQL and/or PL/SQL expertise
  • Oracle APEX experience
  • Knowledge of report writing tools e.g. iReports, Jaspersoft Studio
  • Knowledge of Unix/Linux including experience of Shell scripting
  • Knowledge of systems integration and/or EDI processes
  • Competence with MS Excel, especially the design of data input/output sheets, including use of macros and VBA
