Graduate – Planning

Job description

This is an exciting time to join Worcestershire County Council. We have big ambitions and we are looking for our future leaders to help us to achieve them. Our aim is to create a world class Worcestershire and if you have the talent, skills, knowledge and drive, to help make this happen, then this is where you come in…

Joining our graduate scheme will give you the opportunity to put everything you have learned into action. We will support you to gain the experience of applying your education and knowledge whilst developing your leadership skills in ways which will have meaningful results for you, Worcestershire, its businesses, communities and residents.

Planning in Worcestershire is an exciting place to work, offering opportunities to shape the future of the county through planning policy and development management. As the County Planning Authority, we are leading the development and implementation of minerals and waste planning. We help shape the county through the provision and improvement of infrastructure and work in partnership with our six districts as they work to deliver housing and employment in the county.

Strong engagement is at the heart of planning to develop policy and to determine planning applications. Through building partnerships we can make better and timelier planning decisions, develop better policy and ensure a wide range of benefits from the planning process. Involvement of the local community is also important, aiding their understanding of the planning process and how and where they can get involved and how we make decisions.
