Supply chain and transport – it's not for everyone.
However, if you have just graduated, or you’re not enjoying your job after graduating, a career in supply chain and transport could give you the satisfaction you're looking for.
You may have driven past one of our 160 sites across the UK or passed one of our thousands of drivers delivering goods to our sites or customers. XPO are an award-winning, top ten global logistics company spanning 32 countries. We partner with companies such as ASOS, M&S, Iceland, Tesco, Missguided and B&Q, to name just a few. We also run Europe's largest pea processing plant for a leading household name - that gives you an idea of the variety of our work.
Did we mention we were also named as the third best company to work for in the UK by Glassdoor in 2019?
Luckily for you, we offer a graduate programme to those with a degree in any discipline. We’re a people-focused business, so we are looking for graduates with drive, resilience and the determination to become future leaders in our business. We just ask that you are mobile and can move around the UK with our support and have the desire to succeed.
Your two-year graduate programme with XPO will be broken down into four placements of six months. You’ll cover areas including warehousing, transport, projects and support services. This will ensure that you gain a fully-rounded view of our business and allow you to build key contacts and rapport which will enable you to gain a full-time role at the end of your programme.
Learning and development is at the heart of everything we do. You’ll have the opportunity to complete a nationally recognised leadership and management programme, alongside a variety of training and qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely and International CPC, which will allow you to manage one of our transport sites. We also offer ongoing degree and masters programmes.
How does managing a team of 30 warehouse operatives in a multi-million-pound e-commerce operation sound? Daunting? This could be your first placement and we will give you all the tools and support to succeed.
How about a second placement with our regional QHSE team? Travelling to customer sites across the country, ensuring maximum safety for our colleagues and raising awareness to prevent accidents in the workplace?
Love the thought of managing a transport site now you’ve achieved your International CPC? Motivate your staff and effectively liaise with a high profile customer for your third placement.
In your fourth placement, you may know which direction your career with XPO Logistics is heading. You could return to e-commerce with a major retailer as Operations Manager, tasked with maximising the workflow and making it easier for our colleagues to drive forklifts around our warehouse.
XPO Logistics will give you the tools to develop your career. You will be given responsibility from day one, along with an amazing support network of colleagues and senior managers - some of whom also came through the same scheme. Even the MD of our Transport Solutions business came through our graduate scheme. Your salary will start at £25,000 per annum and will rise to £26,000 per annum after the successful completion of year one. On top of that, we pay and cover your accommodation costs for your first two weeks of each placement whilst you find your feet. Our graduate team are always on hand to offer advice through regular one-to-ones and graduate webinars. The team ensure you are getting the most out of all your placements while guiding you through your XPO journey.
You’ll have access to a variety of high street discounts including PureGym, Apple, Superdry, Pizza Hut, discounted cinema tickets and many more.
So what’s not to love? If you’re looking for a career (and not just a job) which will challenge you but also reward you, why wait?
