This role represents a dynamic opportunity in a pioneering business supporting the energy transition in the UK. The business is established as a market leader in the development and operation of flexible generation assets, in particular battery storage. It is backed by a major energy player with a worldwide reputation.
You will be at the commercial heart of the business in the Trading and Market Analysis team responsible for providing optimisation services to flexible generation assets and creating direct P&L from proprietary trading.
You will have the opportunity to learn from, and work with motivated, dedicated market experts who will give you the skills to manage complex data to inform good decisions that genuinely contribute to the success of the business.
Following a period of training your most likely path will be to join the 24/7 Power Shift Trading Team contributing to team’s core mission to provide full stack management for flexible assets including energy arbitrage, balancing services, asset dispatch and operations. Within a short space of time you’ll understand how important that is, not only to the company but for everybody in their homes and workplaces who don’t have to think about how their electricity is simply just “there” at the flick of a switch.
Typical daily tasks would include:
- Analyse market data to educate a buy and sell strategy in the UK Power auctions
- Monitor real time energy market information and continuously adapt a trading strategy to maximise profits whilst also managing risks
- Trade UK power contracts of material value on the exchange platform with regular frequency
What we are looking for
- An aptitude for numbers and data
- Excellent and consistent academic performance with GSCE A grades in maths and science subjects
- A degree in a numerate or commercial discipline, most likely Maths, Statistics or Economics
- A diligent approach to challenge and mature approach to responsibility
- Successful candidates typically have an interest equities or other traded markets, enjoy problem solving, analysing data and have a good grasp of probabilities
