Job description

This role is within the Communications team and provides a central design resource within IOM3 Group Services.

The role provides design expertise within the Institute for all projects and activities. The Graphic Designer is responsible for the production of a wide range of promotional materials, magazines, literature and artwork for all IOM3 activities and for external activities managed by IOM3. The remit includes online and electronic project artwork as well as print.

Main responsibilities:

  • Creating and updating corporate and promotional literature, brochures, fliers, adverts etc
  • Page layout and design of IOM3 member magazines
  • Design, production and sourcing of display materials for exhibitions and events
  • Design of external client adverts for magazines, as briefed by Sales team
  • Provision and updating of artwork for IOM3 websites and social media accounts
  • Taking briefs from creative through to print-ready stage
  • Maintaining corporate style across IOM3 activities
  • Liaising closely with internal departments on design and content
  • Liaising with the internal Sales and Marketing team to provide appropriate materials to support advertising sales activities
  • Liaising/negotiation with printers and suppliers
  • Searching for appropriate images to support projects in print and online
  • Redrawing/retouching images to support projects in print and online

What we are looking for

  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite 6
  • Fluent in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
  • Experience of developing online content
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent eye for detail/proofreading skills
  • Ability to work to/maintain corporate style and branding
  • Well organised and able to manage own workload
  • Comfortable working both independently and within a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant qualification in design
  • Understanding of legal considerations/implications in print and online publishing


  • Knowledge of print and publishing processes
  • Experience in magazine design processes
  • Experience in developing enriched material for app/online purposes (video/audio/slideshows)
  • Experience of print buying
