- Do you have a good rapport with young people and are you able to act as a positive role model to them?
- Are you able to maintain positive relationships with all, and work as an effective and flexible member of a lively team?
- Do you have sporting, artistic or recreational strengths and interests you could share?
- Maybe you’re considering teaching or working with young people as a career and want to test the waters?
Our well-established Resident Graduate programme attracts both those who are thinking about a future career in education or youth work, and those who are looking for a supportive, stimulating and purposeful year while they consider their next step, in whatever direction that may be.
‘Res Grads’ live and work within the boarding environment at Bootham School to support the pastoral care and recreational activities of the boarding students aged from 11 to 18.
In addition, by being part of this programme, you will have the opportunity to develop a daytime programme that reflects your interests and ambitions. For example, if you are interested in pursuing an eventual career in education, we can arrange for you to observe some lessons and help out in departments of interest to you. You can also take on other paid jobs around the school as and when needed, to help the school community and help widen your experience.
If you have yet to decide your future direction, this would prove an enjoyable and satisfying year working in a team of other recent graduates in our unique and friendly community.
This post includes free furnished accommodation, with no bills, at our York city centre senior school, all meals provided during term time and £650 per month salary. The expectation is that you will offer 25 hours a week of support to the school. Beyond these hours you can build up your own individual programme of work experience to support your own interests and career aspirations.
You can chat to us and meet our current team at our informal online Res Grad Open Morning on Saturday 8 May at 11am to 12.00. To register for the Open Morning please email Jenny
