Technology Transfer Engineer

Job description

As a Technology Transfer Engineer, you will join the WMG SME Group to bring research-led innovation into small and medium sized manufacturing businesses to help them become more productive and competitive. This appointment is dependent upon part funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), for the project Digital Innovation for Manufacturing (DI4M) project number 50R18PO2791, supported by the HVM Catapult, and will be subject to the continuation of both the availability of funding and the projects.

Full time, two-year, fixed term contract to end no later than 31 March 2023.

What we are looking for

We are looking for candidates with technical skills to support our Digital Manufacturing team. In particular, we are looking for engineers with skills in any of:

  • Software development e.g. managing the development, deployment and testing ideally with Linux experience;
  • Data systems, e.g. sensor integration, Industrial Internet of Things, embedded software devices, processing and analysis, machine learning and artificial intelligence;
  • You should be able to communicate your expertise, knowledge and experience
  • Apply your knowledge to the practical development of physical products and manufacturing processes
  • Work as part of a multi-skilled team
  • Work on multiple concurrent projects with short timescales (typically 2-5 days)


You will be degree level qualified in a relevant subject or have significant applied industrial experience.
