Theatre Operator

Job description

  • administer and schedule a programme of events for the Barrington Centre Theatre, delivering a comprehensive artistic programme for a diverse community. Promoting all activities on the Centres website and social media.
  • It will be necessary to liaise with promoters/contractors and staff.
  • demonstrate a flair in creating a programme of activities to attract a broad range of people.
  • working with the Centre Operations Manager to ensure the smooth delivery of events whilst delivering an artistic and financial goals.
  • line management of technical staff
  • planning how the Centre’s productions and programmes are mounted and scheduled and aligned.
  • administration and scheduling of the programme of events
  • managing and extending theatre productions.
  • manage and support all in-house and visiting company productions.
  • marketing and publicity of the theatre, bar and room hire.
  • contracting productions and events.
  • oversee the management of all bookings.

What we are looking for

  • knowledge of public entertainment licences conditions including PPL PRS.
  • knowledge of event technical requirements and oversee the smooth running of the theatre from a technical perspective.
  • demonstrable experience in an arts and theatre environment.
  • a proven track record of events and projects.
  • a good understanding of the theatre environment.
  • confident in dealing with financial matters and negotiating with production companies.
  • good knowledge of PR and social media skills.
  • comfortable with dealing with a number of diverse stakeholders within the community and beyond.

Hours of work: 18 hours per week. Option for remote working from home however, attendance will be required on site at the Barrington Centre when shows are being set up and taking place.
