Leicester City Council
Leicester City Council is a major local authority providing a wide range of services and spending over £1bn per year. It plays a major role in city life, involved in everything from caring for the elderly and disabled, protecting vulnerable children and promoting public health to collecting refuse, running schools, maintaining the city’s roads and managing over 20,000 homes. It develops regeneration projects, and is responsible for investing tens of millions of pounds in the city’s infrastructure and facilities over the next few years.
At the same time, the council faces unprecedented financial challenges. The council’s funding from the government is being reduced each year, and we need to make sure we change and adapt whilst still providing the best possible services to the people of Leicester.
