The institute is committed to developing new interdisciplinary teaching and research and being involved in mainstream geography, geology and interdisciplinary fields. Research is organised on research group basis. 60% of first year occupied by research training and 5 - 10% in subsequent years (Human Geography MPhil students may be granted exemption).
