Course overview

Get the theoretical and practical training you need to succeed in a worldwide industry – developing, promoting and managing tourism policy, regions and operations.

Main overview

From developing tourism policy and regions to promoting and managing destinations and services, the tourism industry offers tremendous scope for talented professionals.

On our Master’s course you’ll develop a deep understanding of how the industry operates, together with a comprehensive set of management and leadership skills. There are core modules dedicated to tourism policy, management, marketing and sustainability, as well as optional modules focusing on the commercial and operational management aspects.

As well as lectures and seminars, you’ll take part in workshops, simulations, case studies and group work, during which you’ll be able to put what you’ve learnt into practice and refine your skills.

We’ll also provide high-quality research training. This will prepare you for writing your Master’s dissertation and give you transferable skills which you can use in further study and throughout your career.

Lord Ashcroft International Business School is one of the largest business schools in the east of England, and the first choice for many employers looking to up-skill their staff. You'll benefit from state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, study areas, campus libraries with online databases containing professional journals, plus our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) through which you can access study resources and help.

Most of our graduates pursue tourism and hospitality careers, but you’ll develop transferable skills that many employers value. These include the ability to plan, operate and lead in complex commercial, socio-economic and political situations around the world.
We’re a member of the Association for Tourism in Higher Education (ATHE), the subject association for tourism in higher education in the UK. We also have strong ties with the industry and frequently hold industrial relation events and employers’ events.
