Entry requirements

  • A first degree with honours in a related subject and at a minimum final classification of Upper Second (2:1).
  • If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 6.5 ( Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification, as recognised by Anglia Ruskin University.
  • The selection of an approved topic area, aligned to a supervisory member of staff, should be submitted at the time of your application.

Course content

If you’re passionate about sport coaching and want to have an impact on future generations, the knowledge understanding you’ll develop on our MSc Sport Coaching course will prepare you for a rewarding career. You’ll work on interdisciplinary solutions and enhance your employability power with skills relevant across participation and performance sport settings.


Our flexible MSc in Sport Coaching features current knowledge at the forefront of sport coaching research and practice, allowing you to develop your own area of interest and focus your learning to become a specialist on your chosen theme.

Continually engaging with contemporary and future issues within sport, including ethical problem-solving and interdisciplinary working, you'll critically consider your long-term career goals and plan for your future.

You'll use a range of advanced skills and techniques throughout all of your modules, including communication through different media, practical inquiry, planning and time-management to create and analyse real-world data.

You'll also have the unique opportunity to either conduct a specialised research project, or combine your studies with an applied work based project in the field of sport coaching, taking advantage of your and our industry connections to increase your skills while you study.
