Self-Funded Students

You must have a single or joint honours degree in Psychology or a related discipline, with a minimum degree class of 2(i) and extensive research experience e.g. Masters degree, extensive practical research experience etc. You are strongly advised to make contact with a potential supervisor to discuss your application prior to submission.

Course content

This course is primarily aimed at recipients of Knowledge Economy Skills Scholarships KESS Funding where students focus on field research in partnership with an external company. This course can also consider self-funded applicants who are already in possession of a masters level qualification (or practical work-based experience) and who have a suitable background in research methods. You may have a specific research aim in mind and will be ready to carry out independent research leading to PhD level study or be seeking a stand-alone research based qualification suitable for a career in research with transferable skills for graduate employment.

It is the normal expectation that the independent research (120 credits) should be of at a publishable standard in a high quality peer reviewed journal.

Information for international students

International students will be given individual consideration, but must be able to demonstrate English language proficiency at an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no element below 6.0).
