Entry requirements

The normal requirement would be for a student to have a 2(ii) Honours undergraduate degree in an appropriate Biological Science subject. Applications from mature students, without formal qualifications, but with relevant industrial, commercial, research or other experience will be considered.

Mature students without a degree but having substantial recent and relevant experience will also be considered. We particularly encourage applications from overseas students.

Course content

This taught MSc course in the School of Biological Sciences provides intensive training in this important area of Biology and is designed both for fresh graduates and for those wishing to develop and extend their expertise in this area. The course has a strong practical emphasis and will provide the advanced theoretical and practical background necessary for employment in the Biotechnology industry, as well as equipping students with the knowledge required to pursue advanced studies in this area.

Information for international students

Applicants from overseas must, in addition, demonstrate competence in English to an acceptable level as outlined below:

  • IELTS: a minimum score of 6.0 (with no element below 5.5), or
  • Cambridge Proficiency Higher.

Students who have undertaken 2 years of education entirely through the medium of English directly prior to entry to Bangor University, will not be required to submit an English Language test certificate. A letter from their institution will, however, be required, stating that they have studied entirely through the medium of English.
