Our standard postgraduate entry requirement is a second-class honours degree (2:2 or above) from a UK university, or an equivalent international qualification.

Course content

This programme is designed to give you the skills and expertise you need to compete in the sport industry and related businesses and organisations, by providing specialist teaching about the principles and practice of sport management and marketing.

It will help you to develop a deeper understanding of management, governance and regulatory issues within the business of sport. It also provides an understanding of the relevance of marketing for sports organisations.

Teaching is informed by the activities of the academic staff in the Birkbeck Sport Business Centre, Birkbeck’s designated research centre for the study of sport business.

Information for international students

International students who complete the Sport Management pathway on the International Foundation Programme for Postgraduate Study (Graduate Diploma) by passing all four modules, including passing Approaches to Business and Management with 60%, are given automatic progression to this programme.

If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
