Course content

This programme is designed to give you the skills and expertise you need to compete in the sport industry and related businesses and organisations, by offering specialist teaching about the principles and practice of sport management, governance and policy. It will provide you with detailed knowledge about key issues, such as the structure and function of sport in the UK and elsewhere, governance and regulation, sport economics, and much more.

The programme is ideally suited to the needs of executives within sport organisations, including regulatory and governing bodies, those who work in central and local government, those with responsibilities in the sport and leisure fields, members of supporter organisations and other local, regional and national sport organisations. It will also appeal to those with a general interest in the sport and media industries.

Information for international students

International students who complete the Sport Management pathway on the International Foundation Programme for Postgraduate Study (Graduate Diploma) by passing all four modules (Academic English Skills for Postgraduate Study; Approaches to Postgraduate Study; Professional Communication Skills; Approaches to Business and Management), including passing Approaches to Business and Management with 60%, are given automatic progression to this programme.

If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
