The course gives you a chance to gain skills in a range of subjects, increasing your analytical knowledge and gaining the attributes employers really value.

What's covered in the course

Set from a computing perspective, we will help you gain knowledge and skills in business intelligence, database technology and data analytics. The course also teaches you how to manipulate large amounts of data.

You will draw together a range of techniques and theories and look at structured and unstructured raw data. Analytics from the wider computing world will also be assessed, using software from global leaders including SAS, IBM and Oracle.

The broad range of skills you will develop will open up exciting and varied career options in areas including financial services, scientific computation, decision making support and government, risk assessment, statistics, education, consultancy and entrepreneurship.

The aim of this course is to see you become adept at data analytics, looking at advanced databases, finance management and global business strategy to become a real asset for any employer. You’ll work hard on a research project, where you’ll get the opportunity to explore a favourite topic in much greater detail.

You will study at our new £63 million development, The Curzon Building, which opens its doors in September 2015 and boasts a richly stocked library filled with physical and electronic resources, a new Students’ Union and student support facilities.
