Course content
If you want to gain a flying start to your teaching career – by gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - but want to highlight your mathematics expertise at the same time – this course has plenty to offer.
The PGCE Primary Education with Specialism in Mathematics with QTS will enable you to become a reflective, critical and enquiring primary teacher who can specialise in mathematics.
It will give you the ability to respond flexibly to changing circumstances and will allow you to build on your knowledge and skills throughout your professional life.
The ‘value of children’ is at the heart of everything you’ll learn. We’ll provide you with the skills and understanding that you need so that you can inspire every child in your primary school classroom and encourage them, particularly in mathematics.
You’ll discover that the way we teach you and the time you spend in schools in the Birmingham area will give you a broad experience of working with children who come from a wide range of different social, economic and cultural backgrounds.
Fees and funding
Although this is a postgraduate course, current PGCE students are eligible for the finance support package available to full-time undergraduates.
