Entry requirements

A registered Health Professional with the required level of post-registration experience. Have access to pre or post registration healthcare students as you are required to experience the mentoring and assessing process for such students in order to pass the module (the level of experience and status of mentees is determined by the Professional/Regulatory Bodies) Have an experienced Practice Teacher as your workplace supervisor (Your workplace supervisor will also be invited to attend the induction session) Have the support of your Manager and an agreement to 15 days protected workplace learning time. Have access to a computer connected to the internet.

Course content

Prepare qualified health practitioners to support and assess both students undertaking approved courses leading to a registerable qualification and post-registration students undertaking specialist practice courses

Prepare qualified practitioners to support learning within an interprofessional environment

Prepare qualified practitioners to design, implement and evaluate learning opportunities within their practice setting

Prepare qualified practitioners to contribute to the overall development of their workplace as a learning organisation

Enable qualified nurses and midwives to meet the NMC's additional requirements to be a sign-off mentor
