We would normally expect you to have an Honours degree at Upper Second Class (2.1) and/or an appropriate masters degree. Some supervisors may ask you for additional entry requirements such as relevant work experience, evidence of written work, or previous study of a particular subject. Course content

A PhD involves a complex and advanced project and is awarded to a candidate who, having critically investigated and evaluated an approved topic resulting in an independent and original contribution to knowledge and demonstrated an understanding of research methods appropriate to the chosen field, has presented and defended a thesis and/or practical element, by viva voce, to the satisfaction of the examiners.
