Course content

This programme is designed for midwives who have not been able to complete the required 450 hours in practice over a 3 year period (as stated by the Post Registration Education and Practice (PREP) requirements laid down by the NMC); if this matches your situation and you are currently registered with the NMC, then this course will enable you to return to practice.

The programme provides an environment for you to refresh your previous midwifery knowledge and examine current midwifery practice in contemporary maternity care. The theoretical content is delivered as a self-managed learning package with a total of 2 days attendance at the University.

This flexible style acknowledges the varied requirements of returners to practice and enables your studying to take place alongside clinical practice, thus minimising the theory-practice gap.
