Entry requirements

Working osteopaths registered with GOsC (or the equivalent in your country). You should hold a M.Ost, BSc Ost, DO or equivalent, and a valid First Aid Certificate. All students enrolled on the course must undergo an enhanced DBS check. The PG Cert Children's Osteopathy application form can be downloaded from our website. Each individual application will be assessed by the Admissions Team and all applicants who fulfil the admissions criteria will be invited for an interview.

Course content

This course is aimed at osteopaths who wish to enhance their ability to deal with paediatric patients. BCOM is known for its holistic osteopathy and this will be incorporated into the PgCert for Children’s Osteopathy. BCOM is also known for the quality of its teaching and for its small friendly atmosphere. Students will have interactive lectures and will participate in a post graduate teaching clinic under the supervision of senior members of the osteopathic staff who specialise in teaching children’s osteopathy.

This is a 60 credit, Level 7 award, validated by Plymouth University.

There are three modules, each 20 credits, with a minimum 30 contact hours per module:

  • Birth and delivery;
  • Infant and the developing child;
  • The older child.

Assessment is through both written assessments and Integrated clinical structured examinations (a form of viva voce). Practice involves time in BCOM's Childrens Clinic.
