Entry requirements

Applicants will need to meet the following criteria:

  • a PGDip in Nursing (pre-qualifying) with NMC registration
  • employment in clinical practice.

If you studied your Postgraduate Diploma outside of Bucks New University, you will need to supply evidence of successful completion of a level 7 research module.

Course content

This MSc Nursing (top-up) course provides the necessary support to complete a research project in order to gain a master's qualification.

At a time of ongoing changes in NHS Education and the workforce, the achievement of a master’s degree can add significant value to a CV, promoting achievement of academic rigour, problem solving, critical analysis and evaluation and synthesis of evidence.

This course aims to support you in undertaking one of the following projects:

  • an independent piece of research
  • a work-based project
  • extended literature review
  • research study.

Throughout the course you will be required to synthesise and evaluate knowledge at an advanced level, through the systematic investigation of a topic that is relevant to your workplace.
