Course content

The course is aimed at graduates who have a real passion, enthusiasm and commitment to joining the teaching profession as a primary teacher with maths specialism, and who might want to become a leader in mathematics across a school setting.

Through our PGCE we will help you build on this passion for teaching children in early years up to year six not only in maths, but also wider subjects. On successfully completing your PGCE, as well as pursuing your teaching career and moving into completing your NQT induction, there is also potential for you to engage in further study for a full Master's and on to a Doctorate in Education.

This course is designed to support you in gaining a PGCE Primary and achieving the standards to be a Qualified Teacher, with a focus on primary mathematics.

The course forms a pathway through the PGCE Primary, which is aimed at graduates who have a real passion, enthusiasm and commitment towards joining the teaching profession as a primary-phase teacher, and who seek to become the very best teacher and ‘leader of learning’ they can.

The more understanding you bring with you about the nature of teaching and learning in UK primary schools from the early years up to Year 6, and the role of the professional teacher, the better.
