Entry requirements

Those enrolling will normally possess at least a minimum Level 3 qualification in their own area of specialism. Before applying to Canterbury Christ Church University, you will need to apply and be accepted to the course at one of our partner colleges (see Where will I Study for a list of partners).

A teacher is expected to be vocationally qualified to a minimum of one level above that of the course they are teaching on. You'll need to demonstrate at interview your ability to benefit from the course and to meet the teaching requirement applicable to the course you've chosen.
If English is not your first language you require an IELTS overall score of 6.0 with no element below 5.5 for most standard undergraduate and postgraduate courses. There are some exceptions and if the IELTS requirement differs it will be specified on the course page.

Course content

This is a suite of courses for those interested in, or already working in, the further education and skills sector. Teachers working in further and adult education, schools, private and voluntary training providers can access a range of courses to meet their need, improve their skills and gain a higher qualification level, whether they are new or existing professionals.

These are courses for those interested in, or already working in, the further education and skills sector. Teachers working in further and adult education, schools (teaching students over 14 years old), public or private training organisations.
You will need to be in a paid or voluntary teaching role to undertake all except the Introductory Award in Education and Training which is for those who wish to get into teaching but currently have little or no teaching.
You can choose to take an Introductory Award (20 credits level 4), or Diploma course (120 credits level 4&5) or Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (ProfGCE level 6) or any of these courses with a specialism in English or Mathematics or Teaching Learners with Special Needs.
